I was on my honeymoon a couple of weeks ago and was burned pretty badly by my Nizo s80. There is a small metal bar down on the lower right side of the camera that gets very hot when the power is switched on. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Beware if you haven't.

Do not know your cam but stuff like this might happen if there is a loose contact (bad connection) or (an old) battery acid leakage in the battery compartment which causes a short curcuit in the "main" electrical system from the batteries.
Bad connections or short curcuits may cause "overheating".
Acid shortcurcuits will cause a very short battery life.
Bad connections will not influence too much on that.
